At Cities Journal, we are usually concerned with rather important stuff, such as how different American cities do law enforcement or what high schools are the best in any given state. Every now and then, however, we like to let our hair down, so to speak, and explore a less serious side of the United States. Like, for instance, which cities in the State of Alabama are the kinkiest. Yes, you read that right – kinkiest.
We didn’t do the research ourselves, we have to admit. Instead, it was the team from RoadSnacks, a quirky little website that finds interesting data to find out the most incredible things about American cities and states.
This time, they turned their eyes to Alabama and they looked at the data from Google Trends in order to find out the residents of which cities are searching for certain terms that they deemed “kinky”. For example, they looked at how many people searched for keyphrases in the following three categories – sex toys, weird positions and strippers. They didn’t provide the exact terms they searched for, but judging by the results, they were thorough.
In the end, they gave Alabaman cities a ranking on the various indices according to categories, pointing out that everything over 60 is a lot. So, what did they find out? Well, for one, they discovered that the city of Leeds is, for some reason, extremely interested in a certain type of sex toy that is traditionally used by women. They also discovered that Leeds is most interested in sex toys in general and that they are also quite fond of strippers. All in all, Leeds is one naughty city.
In the second place, we find Oxford, a relatively small city that is all about the strippers. On the Strippers search index, they got 92, which is insanely high. They also did amazingly in the Weird positions search index, where they got 59. On the other hand, the residents of Oxford didn’t look up sex toys that much.
Wetumpka, at least according to this research, is the only place in Alabama more interested in strippers than Oxford. They got an entire 100 on the Stripper search index and they also boast a huge Weird positions search index of 58. It may be a small place, but the residents of Wetumpka know how to have fun.
Dothan is known for its Peanut Festival, but there is much more to this Alabaman city, at least according to this investigation. Namely, Dothan’s residents are madly curious about sex toys and they are also not shy towards strippers nor the weird positions. They do a bit of everything. Centre is among the smallest places on the list and it ranks 5th, mostly thanks to their unquenchable thirst for new and crazier positions. They earned a whole 100 in the Weird positions search index which probably means Centre is going to get bigger in years to come.
In 6th place is Trussville, a city that found a place on Money Magazine’s Top 100 Liveable Cities as well. Well, Trussville also happens to be one kinky city, with a great love for strippers and sex toys. Huguley is another tiny spot on the map of Alabama, but there is definitely more to it than meets the eye. The residents of Huguley will do everything to keep their love lives interesting, even if it means almost topping the state in weird positions Google searches.
Tillmans Corner made it to 8th spot, ranking only a fraction below Huguley on the Weird positions search index. There must be something in that Gulf air. In the 9th spot is Decatur, traditionally called the River City. Well, after this thing comes out, they might as well turn it to Sex Toy City, because its residents sure like to search for them online. They are also not averse to strippers.
In the final, 10th spot, they have Montgomery, proving that people in the Capital City also know how to have fun. They mostly looked for sex toys, especially the kind designed for the ladies. And there you have them, the kinkiest cities and places in Alabama. Not bad Alabama. Not bad at all.
