2. Greenville, South Carolina
With a low cost of living, beautiful weather all year long, and plenty of tax perks for seniors, Greenville, South Carolina is a must for many.
Much like Florida, South Carolina has a great, mild climate, which is particularly attractive to the seniors. Greenville, located in the northern portion of the state, has been chosen by many as one of the best places to retire in the United States, and climate is just one factor in that categorization. The city offers many fiscal benefits for senior citizens, and naturally that is a major perk.
Another great thing about Greenville is it’s downtown, which has been fully restored and won the Great American Main Street award on two occasions, not to mention hat CNN Money named it a great place to live. The city has several colleges and universities and a number of neighborhoods with different vibes to choose from.
The city is located approximately halfway between Charlotte and Atlanta, so making day trips to both those cities is convenient. There are also beautiful hiking areas in the mountains nearby, for those who prefer an active retirement.
