Portland has a history of what’s called the “Shanghai Tunnels” that run beneath the city. It’s said these tunnels were used to smuggle unsuspecting workers to the ocean to sell them as workers on sea ships. It’s said that many of the people that were smuggled through these tunnels still haunt the town.
