California is usually thought to be a pretty educated state. It might differ from community to community, but there’s a lot going for the state in terms of education.
Of course, some of the best universities in the country are located in the state. And you can’t forget about all of the geniuses and tech-wiz type people who are living and working in Silicon Valley.
So it’s pretty surprising to learn that five of the top ten least-educated cities in America are located in California. These cities are Merced, Visalia-Porterville, Hanford-Corcoran, Madera, and El Centro. These figures are based on a study that was conducted to see what percentage of people living in cities around America have completed higher education.
And according to these stats, these five cities are in the top ten when it comes to cities that have the smallest percentage of people over the age of 25 who have at least a bachelor’s degree. The least educated city in the country is not in California, however. It is in Arizon – Lake Havasu City.
And if you are looking for the most educated city in America, that would be Boulder, Colorado. Almost 60 percent of the population over the age of 25 has a bachelor’s or higher.
