It is no secret that there is far more variation between neighborhoods in a single city than between different cities when it comes to crime. For example, even the safest cities in the country can have a neighborhood or two that are very unsafe and that are best avoided. Also, some of the most unsafe cities in the US have neighborhoods that are perfectly safe.

The following list was compiled by Neighborhoodscout.com and it gives us the most dangerous neighborhoods in all of the United States. More precisely, these are the neighborhoods that have the highest violent crime rate per 1,000 people. Violent crimes include murder, armed robbery, forcible rape and aggravated assault.

City Center of East St. Louis, Illinois is considered to be the least safe neighborhood in all of the US, with more than 100 crimes per 1,000 residents, meaning that the chances of becoming a victim of a violent crime in this neighborhood is one in 10.

James Buchanan Dr / 1st Street in Jackson, Tennessee is the second least safe neighborhood in America, with 97.50 crimes per 1,000 people, still giving you a 1 in 10 chance that you will become a victim of a crime.

The Mcdainel St SW / Mary ST SW is a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia and it is considered to be the third on this list, with 96.20 crimes per 1,000 residents.

E Holland Ave / E Genesee Ave in Saginaw, Michigan has a crime rate of 93.65 per 1,000 people, making it the fourth least safe neighborhood in America.

In spot #5, we have 7th ST / E Jefferson St in Rockford, Illinois where there are 89.70 crimes per 1,000 people.
