The 25 Most Dangerous Cities In The USA

7. Cleveland, Ohio

Business Insider reminds us that the city of Cleveland made worldwide headlines last year when 3 young women were freed after being held captive for over 10 years in an inner city neighborhood.

This terrible case was just one of the many violent crimes that pushed the city up in our ranking as one of the most dangerous, according to stats from the Huffington Post. The very through research team over at Neighborhood Scout also shared that overall the city holds a crime rate of over 76 per one thousand residents, clearly making this city one of the most dangerous in the country.

Aside from dealing with tough economic times like the rest of the country, residents of the city of Cleveland are very likely to be involved in property crimes like motor vehicle theft, burglary and arson, reports Neighborhood Scout. Their team of analysts also helps prove our point with the fact that the chance of being involved in one of these property crimes is at a miserable 1 in 16.

The Neighborhood Scout team also highlighted that violent crimes are a major issue in Cleveland, with the chances of falling victim to forcible rape, murder, manslaughter, armed robbery and aggravated assault at 1 in 72 people.

Their data also shows frightening numbers stating that within the state of Ohio itself 98 percent of the communities have lower overall crime rates. It doesn’t seem like it is a safe place to wander around late at night due to the fact that in 2012 the city also saw a dangerously high rate of forcible rapes committed at a rate of 92 per 100,00 people and that number only increased in 2013.

Like icing on a cake, the site also revealed that drivers in the city may have a tough time as Cleveland has one of the highest vehicle theft rates in the US with the chances of having your vehicle stolen within city limits at 1 in 105 residents.
