Peace, Music And Art In Monterey

1

When Jimmy Hendrix set his guitar on fire at Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, it created a shift in the way people see music, art and life itself. And the spot where Jimmy did it became home to one of the most liberating and fun-loving festivals in the US. It now houses the California Roots Music & Arts Festival, or California Roots for short.

The festival started slow and shy in 2010 and over the last few years, it has grown into one of the largest reggae festivals in the United States, lasting a total of three days. This year, the festival is taking place from May 22-24 and it is boasts the best lineup ever.

The artists that will be playing California Roots 2015 include: SOJA, The Roots, Slightly Stoopid, Iration, Cypress Hill, Tribal Seeds, Collie Buddz, Dirty Heads, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Dilated Peoples, Steel Pulse, John Butler Trio and many others.

Of course, California Roots is about more than just music – it is about arts, it is about coming together and supporting the local community. It is a rare beast on the US music festival scene and worthy of your time for sure.
