The School for the Talented and Gifted at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Magnet Center (also known as TAG Magnet or simply TAG) is almost invariably the answer when the question is which high school in the US is considered the best. TAG is a public college preparatory magnet school and it is located in Dallas, Texas.
But what exactly is it that makes TAG Magnet the best high school in the country?
Well, first of all, there are the numbers which clearly show that TAG provides its students with one of the most challenging and demanding curriculums, which in turn ensures that they have as much success in further education as possible. For example, the College Readiness Index for TAG is 100.0, a number that is seldom seen. The AP Participant Passing Rate is 98%, which also ranks among the very best in the country.
Another reason why the school has been awarded so much recognition over the years is the faculty, which is paid much better than most and which, on average, has more than 18 years of experience teaching. In addition to this, the student to teacher ratio is a stable 17:1, allowing teachers to dedicate enough time to every student.
Finally, nearly all of TAG’s seniors receive scholarship offers and often from multiple colleges. In their 20-year long history, every student who graduated from the school was accepted by at least one four year university. Every student. Most selective colleges in the country send their representatives to the TAG campus each year in order to meet with potential new students in person.
