Everyone in Texas and the US knows that the month of March is when you drive down to Houston and attend the biggest livestock show in the world, together with some rodeo fun thrown in for good measure, peppered with performances from the biggest music stars of the day. March is all about The Houston Livestock Show And Rodeo.
The show was first held in 1931 as The Houston Fat Stock Show and Livestock Exposition and over the decades it has grown into the biggest show of its kind in the world, with record attendances. For instance, last year, it attracted almost 2,5 million people over the 20 days it is held. This year, the organizers expect to surpass that number in the period between March 3rd and 22nd.
The Livestock Show part of the event is split into three categories – the Junior Show, the Youth Show and the Open Show. These categories are then split further depending on the type of livestock that is exhibited, from beef to heep, sheep dogs and even llamas and alpacas, just to name a few.
Of course, a huge part of the Houston Livestock Show And Rodeo are the rodeo events which always attract not only the biggest crowds, but also the biggest talents in the world of rodeo, from all corners of the US. There is a whole ton of other events as well, such as auctions, the horse show, barbeques, pig racing, carnival and so much more.
Finally, this year, like always, The Houston Livestock Show And Rodeo will also attract numerous stars from the world of music such as Hunter Hayes, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Alan Jackson, Fall Out Boy, Tim McGraw, Zac Brown Band, Pitbull, Ariana Grande, Brad Paisley and many, many others.
It is an event to behold and experience indeed.
