5 Most Dangerous US Cities For Women

1

Today, we will be looking into the most dangerous cities for women in the US. We will be using the last published statistics that FBI came out with, which factors in murder, manslaughter, robbery, aggravated assault as well as all reported instances of forcible rape.

Keep in mind that the statistics need to be taken with a grain of salt due to the fact that date-rape, statutory rape and other types of sexual assaults are not included.

Number 5 on our list is Redding, California, a city where, for some reason, the number of assaults on women is double that of the rest of California with 797 violent crimes per 100,000 and with 66 rapes per 100,000.

At number 4, we have Springfield, Illinois with 856 violent crimes and 70 rapes per 100,000, while the third one on our list is Fairbanks, Alaska with 783 violent crimes and 193 rapes per 100,000.

Anchorage, Alaska is another Alaskan city on our list, with 813 violent crimes and 86 rapes per 100,000.

The least safe city for women in the US is Saginaw, Michigan, about 90 miles away from Detroit which reported 870 violent crimes and 76 rapes per 100,000.

The statistics and the subsequent analyses that were done clearly show that Michigan and Alaska are two of the states that are particularly unsafe for women.

In Michigan, this is due to the overall high crime rate while in Alaska it seems that the number of assaults on women has to do with a large population of American and Alaskan Indian women who are 3.5 times more likely to be assaulted than any other racial group.
